Ochos Rios, Jamaica

Ochos Rios was very pretty viewed from way up in the mountains on Murphy's Hill.

This is a shot of part of the beach at the Riu in Ochos Rios where we stayed.

The weather was beautiful, the terrain was beautiful, and there were huge, beautiful plants and trees growing absolutely everywhere. So nice. The growing season is just too short here in Minnesota. Seems like half the pictures I take every vacation are of plants and trees and stuff. I should just go and live in the jungle somewhere and be done with it. Maybe I could build a giant tree house on the beach in Jamaica. I'm sure some of the locals could show me how to construct it from almost nothing, just scraps. There are a billion "houses" all along the highway and dirt paths and everywhere else made from random scrap material. They're made from concrete block, corrugated steel, plywood, tarps, you name it. They're all half-finished, or abandoned, or have a whole family of six living in them. You can't tell the difference. They all look the same. I'm still shocked by the state of the homes people live in there. It was hard to get pictures since we were always on a bus moving, but here's an example of two or three homes clustered together.

Well, you can see for yourself. I still am consumed by trying to imagine just how it would be to live this way, or grow up as a child in a home like this. That's enough for now, I guess. More on Jamaica later.

I love Jamaica, Mon!

We just got back from beautiful Jamaica last week. So warm and green and wonderful! I have a nice tan and am feeling much more relaxed than I was a couple of weeks ago. Anyway, I wanted to get a couple of pics on here for everyone who's interested, so I won't write much now, just post a couple of pics. Then I'll add A few more when I get a few more minutes later on.

These pics are of R and I at Dunn's River Falls, this huge rock waterfall formation that we actually climbed all the way up. It was somewhat dangerous and very fun! So pretty, as you can see. Amazing.
